Ballet students will be introduced to classical ballet techniques and terminology. Each class includes center floor work and across-the-floor combinations. Ballet provides grace, poise, and technique needed to be proficient in all other areas of dance. In our younger classes creative movement activities are incorporated using imagination and creativity. Dancers use scarves, ribbons, shakers, etc, keeping students entertained while learning beginning dance skills will help them to acquire a lifelong love for dance.
Baton Twirling
Twirling is a great activity for young children because it helps them develop spatial awareness, fine motor skills, as well as hand-eye coordination. Twirling combines dance and gymnastics while manipulating one, two or three batons. Twirlers will also work on kicks, leaps, and flexibility which is incorporated into routines.
Hip Hop
Hip hop is a fun and fast-moving class taught in a positive environment that encourages dancers to not only improve technique, but to engage in freestyle/improvisational dance and build confidence and performance style. Students will learn the fundamentals of each style such as isolations and flexibility. This class will encourage students to dance outside of the box and bring their own personality to each movement. Hip hop dancing represents body movements that go with the beat and rhythm of hip hop dancing.
Lyrical dance is a combination of ballet and jazz dance that often uses music with lyrics to inspire the movements of the dancer. Lyrical dance is generally a little more fluid than ballet and also somewhat faster although not as rapidly executed as jazz dance. Lyrical is a very passionate and emotional dance style. It portrays certain emotions and tells a story through every movement made.
Pom is a high energy blend of jazz, hip hop, and dance team/cheer techniques. Pom is a dance style in which pompons are used throughout the routine to demonstrate sharp, clean, and precise motions. Most pom routines incorporate elements of jazz and hip-hop.
Tap
Students learn to create rhythms with their feet. Classes focus on the development of a sharpened sense of rhythm, coordination, and clarity of sounds. The goal is to develop dancer’s coordination, clarity, rhythm, timing and phrasing in a fun and challenging way.
