How many practices a week do teams have?

Each team will have two scheduled 90-minute practices a week.

Will I know in advance what days teams practice?

In some cases, yes. However, most coaches wait until they form their teams to try and pick the best days and times for their roster.

When will we know game times for each event/league?

The schedule for events and leagues typically come out 3 days prior to the event/league. However, scheduling can be fluid at times and can change leading up to the date of the event. Coaches and directors will do their best to keep parents updated if times do change.

What’s the earliest and the latest our team would practice?

The earliest practice slot is 5 – 6:30p and the latest practice slot is 8 – 9:30p

How far will we have to travel for an event?

Most of our teams when they do travel, stay within a 90 minute radius of Legacy Center (Brighton). We do have some teams that choose to travel longer distances for events on occasion.

Can my athlete be just a practice player and if so, how much is that fee?

Yes, this is an option. The cost is half of the regular season fee (ex: $650 for winter and half for practice player $325) However, being a practice player does not mean your athlete can pick and choose events they can play in. This option is to give an athlete an opportunity to participate in two practices a week.

Do you do background checks on your coaches?

Yes. Our coaches are required to complete a background check prior to coaching and also complete the USA Basketball Gold License.

How much are admissions for tournaments and leagues?

For most one day shootouts (3 games) it’s $15 for adults, $10 for seniors (65 years or older)/students. Leagues are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors/students. Two day events Weekend Pass: $25 or $15 a Day – Seniors, $10 a Day – Students: $5 a Day. 8 and Under are FREE for all events.

Does your program offer any additional training for its club players?

We do offer year round training & clinics for our players outside of team practices. Our head trainer Coach Marv Fox leads 4 sessions of Small Group Training a week along with clinics and camps that focus on Ball Handling, Shooting, Scoring & Agility. Ask and we can provide more information on these programs.

What if I can’t make the tryout date, will there be an alternate tryout time?

If your athlete can not attend the scheduled try out date, please reach out to our director Tyrone Hicks at thicks@legacycentermichigan.com. We will do our best to work with our coaching staff to allow your athlete an opportunity to try out at a different date.

Can we do a payment plan for our team fees if our athlete makes a team?

Yes, our administrator will always have an option to make a down payment and two additional automatic payments for the player fees. If you need additional payments set up, please contact Dan Nealy at dnealy@legacycentermichigan.com once your athlete makes a roster.

Will I know who’s coaching our athlete’s team prior to tryouts?

In most cases, our staff is in place prior to tryouts. However, there are always coaching openings prior to tryouts that we’ll be actively trying to fill prior to tryouts.

My athlete is currently injured, can they join a team once they have recovered?

Yes, this is an option. However, this is only an option if we have teams that are carrying less than 10 players. Please contact our director Tyrone Hicks at thicks@legacycentermichigan.com to see if this works for your athlete.

Can I bring in a cooler into the arena during events?

No, we do not allow teams to bring in coolers to the arena for the safety of the athlete’s and officials. There is too much of a risk of spills on the basketball court.

Do you have a scholarship program for families that need financial assistance?

We do offer financial limited assistance on a case by case basis through the LEAD FOUNDATION.
